Military Services

You - or your family - may need us one day.  Learn how we can help.

During times of mobilization and deployment...

No one ever said that being in the Reserve, National Guard, or any other community-based military position was going to be easy for you or your family.  Military life, in fact, often creates unforeseen hardships.

The good news is that American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) helps community-based military members and their families cope with separation and other special needs related to service in the armed forces.

As a community-based military man or woman you and your family are entitled to the same valuable Red Cross emergency services as full-time active duty military personnel.

The Red Cross

in Our Community

Disaster Relief and Community Disaster Education

When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross is there. This year we responded to 18 local disasters. Including the Ice Storm, we helped 188 affected individuals with emergency food, shelter and supplies.  Because being prepared can make your family and community safer and sometimes minimize injury and destruction, we made 34 disaster education presentations in the community training 796 people; and distributed preparedness brochures to 3,554 people attending booths, health fairs, and presentations.

Armed Forces Emergency Services

The American Red Cross provides communication between those in the Armed Forces and their families. We have a worldwide network that reaches service members wherever they are to communicate a birth, death or illness. This year we provided emergency connections for 38 military families providing 51 services.

Blood Services

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. Thanks to generous blood donors, the Red Cross collects and distributes nearly half the nation’s blood supply, including Frankfort Regional Medical Center.  The last year, we supported 169 blood drives, collecting 3,897 units of blood with the ability to assist 11,691 patients.

Health and Safety Services

From first aid, CPR and AED training to swimming and lifeguarding, American Red Cross programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. This year, 3,463 individuals learned lifesaving skills through 439 classes offered by the chapter.

Youth, Community, and Volunteer Services

As members of the board of directors, instructors teaching lifesaving skills, disaster action team members, office administrators, event organizers and more, this year, 170 volunteers made the work of the chapter possible, contributing 7,466 hours, for an estimated value of $143,123.22 returned to the community.
